Thursday, June 22, 2006 UTPB’s Stonehenge a lesson for all ages Camp Falcon students took a step back in time Wednesday for a math lesson on Stonehenge. Students sat in the shade at UTPB’s replica of the famous English wonder to learn how people thousands of years ago used the Heel Stone to trace the sun’s path. Wednesday marked the summer solstice when the sun rose across the tip of the Heel Stone signaling that summer has officially arrived. Architect and Camp Falcon instructor Anita Fawaz was using this week to teach art, architecture, mathematics and culture while using Stonehenge as a backdrop. Fawaz said Stonehenge provides students with the opportunity for extensive hands-on learning that they normally wouldn’t get in a classroom.
